5 Things About Money Schools Never Teach Their Student

I still remember when I was in primary school about 30 years ago; there will be a time when my school teacher asked us,

“What is you ambition, what would you like to be when you grow older”

I also remember the song they teach us,

Song by Doris Day – Que Sera Sera

“When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here’s what she said to me

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here’s what my sweetheart said

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Que sera, sera”

If we all realize it, there are a lot of things that we never learn in schools; relationships, time, money, life and a lot of other stuff which supposed to be important in our life, somewhat is not put into priority in school.

What we all learned was that, “What you want to be when you get old”  and “Study hard to get all A’s for your exam”. Schools only tech us how to score perfect A’s in exam.

Here I tried to Compiling 5 things about money that School never teach us but it’s an important thing for us to know.

1. Money Management

Nobody teach us about managing our money. Even those who study business do not learn this. Our school only teaches us how to get the money but never teach how to manage it. I still remember my lecturers was discussing about how much salary we are getting right after graduation. But I never remember any of my lecturers discuss how do we manage our money or makes it works for me.

2. Life is not beautiful, Money is.

We dreamed of a life where everything goes as planned, people always nice to us. That’s a dreamed that never comes true.

Life is cruel, the minute you late, you miss out opportunity. People will take advantages on us. But money is beautiful. If you have money, you can make people smile.

People say money can’t buy happiness, love is. But how many times you smile when you look into your bank account knowing that your bonus doubled? And how many times did you cry because of your loved one?

3. Get Rich Slowly

There is no fast track to get rich. It’s a slow and painful process. You saved money, planning how to get rich, invest it. It takes time and energy. You can’t build your million dollar overnight. Unless you win a jackpot ticket, that’s another story.

If somebody tells you they can make you rich quick, they are lying and it’s a scam.

4. Debt is bad

Nobody tell us debt is bad. Even when we get into university, we were already surrounded by debt. Remember the study loan we took? They say it’s a good investment for the future. Maybe. But overall, debt is still bad. It will erode our future net worth. I’m having negative net worth now because of these study loans. And because we are so used to debt, right after getting our first job, we buy our car, applied for credit card and so on just to regret it later.

5. Investing To Grow Your Money

People always say money is hard to earn, money will not grow on trees. But believe it or not, money can grow in your bank account.

But how?

You grow it by investing money in stock market or businesses. Businesses require big money to start and require us to spend time and energy to manage. One way is to invest money in stock market, investing in stock market is like investing in businesses but in a small scale.

The earlier we start investing, the better. Imagine sitting on an investment which gives a return of 7% per year for 30 years and keep adding additional investment every month. How much that would be after 30 years?

So How Now?

There is no other way in learning those except experiencing it first hand, Only we’ll know now it is and the consequences. Like when we started our new job, they call it on job training.

Another way is by learning and experience this at home, it will come back to parenting. Teaching kids about all of the stuff which we don’t learn in school. That probably a better options. Without these knowledge, the numbers of people who are going to face these problem will keep increasing.
